Amadeu T. Rodrigues, age 71, died Saturday at New Bedford Health Care Center. He was the loving father of 2 sons: Amadeu Rodrigues Jr. of Pawtucket, RI and Clifford Rodrigues of New Bedford. Mr. Rodrigues is survived by 4 brothers: Vasco Rodrigues, Alberto Rodrigues, Antonio Rodrigues and Henrique Rodrigues, all of Pawtucket, RI: and 8 sisters: Eugenia Gomes of Malden, Ma; Jovina Rodrigues, Laura Rodrigues, Eugenia Rodrigues, Julia Rodrigues, all of Pawtucket, RI; Elizabeth Teixeira and Benvinda Rodrigues, both of Brava, Cape Verde; and Victoria da Rocha of Portugal. Amadeu is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rodrigues was born in Brava, Cape Verde son of the late Rosa (Teixeira) and Joao Jose Rodrigues. Amadeu has lived in the New Bedford area for 42 years. He worked as a Custodian at New Bedford High School.
Mr. Rodrigues’ funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Thursday, November 1 beginning at 8 A.M. A religious service will be held at The International Church of the Nazarene, 278 Pleasant St. in New Bedford at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours for Mr. Rodrigues will be Wednesday, Oct 31 from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
