Obituary

Edward T. Pina 89, died October 26, 2012 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Gilmette) Pina.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph T. and Mary (Pina) Pina, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Pina was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
He was formerly employed by Goodyear for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Pina served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1, Goodyear Retirees and the 40 & 8.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Marilyn T. Pina and her husband Ronald C. Pina of Dartmouth and Jacqueline E. Pina and her husband Robert A. Pina of New Bedford; 2 sons, Edward J. Pina and his fiancée Kimm M. Andrade of New Bedford and Donald E. Pina and his wife Brenda of Pennsylvania; 9 grandchildren, Dwayne, Kyle, Jessica, Cheyenne, Donald II, Ivan, Alyssa, Brett and Stephin; 2 great-granddaughters, Neriah and Savannah; a sister, Gloria Fernandes of New Bedford; 2 sisters-in-law, Rose Ramos and her husband Al of Leicester, MA and Anna Monteiro of Brockton; a brother-in-law, Joaquim Gilmette and his wife Pearl of Falmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Louis T. Pina.


Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Friday, November 2nd at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, November 1st from 4-7 PM.
