Melania (Avila Da Silva) Gomes, age 90 of Somerset passed away October 24, 2012. Born in Castelo Branco, Faial, Açores, she was the widow of Antonio Gomes and daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Aurelia Avila da Silva. She was a retired sewing machine operator at Lin-Jays Mfg. and a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
Melania was the mother of Maria Vickery of Somerset, Domingos Gomes of FL and Nemesio Gomes of CA and the late Anthony Gomes; brother of Antonio Silva of CA; grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 6 and an aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River TUESDAY at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Calling hours SUNDAY 5-9 P.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. www.rogersfuneral.com
