Paul Wilson Hescock, 96, of Natick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2012.
Born in Livermore, Maine, he was the son of the late Lottie (Ranger) and Asa Hescock and husband to the late Dorothy (Gregory) Hescock. He began working at The Rivers School in Weston in 1961 as a groundskeeper and worked there for 45 years until he retired. The Rivers School recognized Paul’s long service with the Berger-Decker Award in 2002, citing his “leadership, compassion, and selfless spirit” in helping “make the school a better place”. Before his work at Rivers, he worked on the same grounds for Weston Nurseries for 16 years, plowing the land with his horses. Paul loved horses, gardening, and being outdoors, no matter what the weather. He also loved antique cars and enjoyed maintaining his 1954 Chevrolet Bel-Air. He had an incredible work ethic and took great pride in the grounds at both his home and at Rivers. Paul was a man of faith and always had his Bible nearby. He attended Wellesley Park Assembly of God in Wayland and spread the Gospel to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
Paul was one of 14 siblings and he is survived by his sisters Betty, Ruth, Alta, Anna, and Mary Ann. He is also survived by four children: David Hescock and his wife Helen of St. Johnsbury, VT and their children Dan and Linda; Leslie Pupa of Hudson and her children Heather, Jennifer, and Danielle; Gregory Hescock and his wife Barbara of Ashland and their children Amber, Emily, and Corinne; Jill Lavash of Hopedale and her daughter Kristen; and several great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by an infant son Gregory Hescock.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) Natick. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.
