Bernice V. Grondin, 92, of N. Andover, MA died Wednesday October 24, 2012 at Sutton Hill Center, N. Andover, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 24, 1920 in Caribou, ME a daughter of the late Charles and Celia (Harris) Monahan. She was a former resident of Billerica, MA and Londonderry, NH. Mrs. Grondin worked for Pacific Mills in Lawrence, MA, Container Corporation of America, and later for John Hancock Life Insurance Co. where she worked in the cafeteria. She retired as a cafeteria worker with the Malden School System. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary in Malden for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was proud to call her house a home. She also enjoyed sewing and making items for veteran’s hospitals. .
She is survived by one son, Richard H. Grondin and his wife Corazon of Portsmouth, NH, two daughters, Nancy A. Meuse and her husband John of North Billerica, MA, and Susan M. Chapman and her husband Paul of Sevierville, TN, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey L. Grondin in 2004, her one son David Grondin and by eight brothers and four sisters.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Friday October 26, 2012 at 1:30pm at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 626, Concord, NH 03302-0626. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
