Edna Lopez, 91, of Windham died peacefully Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Parkland Medical Center of Derry, surrounded by her loving granddaughters. She was born March 12, 1921 in Tupper Lake, NY and was the daughter of the late Frank and Daisy (Kenniston) Hough. Edna resided in Tupper Lake and Albany, NY with her late first husband Leon J. Smith, and her two daughters, Susanne and Saundra.
Mrs. Lopez moved to San Diego, CA in 1964, where she worked for the U.S. Navy at North Island and later with the State of California until her retirement. While in CA. she married Joseph V. Lopez, to whom she was wed until his passing in 2006. She moved to NH in 2007 to live with her daughter Susanne Kling and her husband David.
Edna was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and the “8 & 40” Ladies. She was a loving grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter Saundra, 8 grandsons, Joseph, Brian and Brett Muennich, Andrew, Scott, Eric, Douglas and Jonathan Kling, grandaughters Colleen Goulding and Nicole Kneeland, as well as 19 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susanne Kling on August 4, 2012.
Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday November 3, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthews Church, Searles Rd., Windham. Burial will follow at Cemetery on the Plain in Windham at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements.
