Obituary

Helen (Hoxie) Glass of Plymouth, a tenth generation Cape Codder, Helen H. Glass was born in South Sandwich on January 31, 1918, died peacefully on October 21, 2012 at the Newfield House in Plymouth, with her niece Janice Dunton and Tommy, the dog she loved at her side.
She married the late Robert W. Glass of Plymouth and lived in Ellisville for 75 years, where she was a homemaker, gardener, and kindred spirit to the land and the sea. Her interests were many especially reading, poetry, and history. Little known is the fact that she and her USCG husband were stationed on Cleveland Ledge Lighthouse in Buzzards Bay in the fall of 1941.
Helen was one of ten children to Orianna Swift Hoxie and Oliver Crawford Hoxie Sr. She is survived by sisters Gladys H. Shea of Sandwich, MA and Orianna Bevino of Walpole, MA and brother Gilbert F. Hoxie of Quincy, MA. She was predeceased by Blanche H. Dunton, Louise VanBuskirk, Robert S. Hoxie Sr, Channing E. Hoxie, Oliver C. Hoxie Jr, and Milton S. Hoxie. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children all of whom she loved dearly.
A grave side service will be held at the Manomet Cemetery (Junction of White Horse Road and Rte 3A) on Friday October 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions would be appreciated to “Friends of the Newfield House Scholarship Fund” 19 Newfield St, Plymouth, MA 02360
