Doris E. (Horsford) Thistle, 90, of Norfolk, died, Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of Warren H. Thistle who died in 1978.
Born in Revere on March 5, 1922, she was a daughter of the late William and Bernice (Thayer) Horsford.
Mrs. Thistle was a resident of Norfolk for the past 5 years and formerly resided in Franklin and Norwood.
A homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed gardening and poetry and loved to crochet and knit.
She cherished most was time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Gallant of Mansfield, William Shay and his wife Dorothy of Lynn, Warren Thistle and his wife Julie of Homosassa, FL, Linda Janes of Norfolk, Ronald Thistle of Mansfield, Roger Thistle and his wife Karen of Franklin, Arlene Bommhardt and her husband Richard of South Easton and Marjorie Coole and her partner Ken Newby of Taunton.
She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, her sister Bernice Benson of Derry, NH and her twin-sister Ruth Skane of Hampton, NH.
She was the sister of the late Mildred Foley.
Funeral services will be held privately at the request of her family and burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
