Mildred Therèse (MacDonald)Amidon. Formerly of Dedham, Marshfield and Palm Beach Gardens, passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2012 near her residence at Silver Lake Wingate in Kingston, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Frederick E. (‘Ozzie’) Amidon, they enjoyed 45 years of marriage and provided for four children: Debra Mae (and her husband Dr. Clinton C. Ackerman), Martin C. (deceased), Frederick E. (and his wife Connie Dempsey), and Lt. Col. Kenneth W. (and his wife Karen Mirarchi). Daughter of immigrants from Scotland and Ireland, she served for decades as the matriarch of the MacDonald clan – originating from Nova Scotia. She leaves 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and numerous relatives she cherished and mentored for years. During WWII, she worked as a riveter and welder at Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. She also was employed as a mail carrier in the Marshfield Post Office before retiring to Florida. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass and celebration of Mildred’s joys and talents – all of which she shared selflessly – on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Parish, 270 Main Street (Route 106) Kingston, MA. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Off Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02532.
