Obituary

Tesorero, John J., of Rocky Hill CT passed away in Potomac, Maryland on October 22, 2012. John was a former resident of Rocky Hill, CT. Born on November 30, 1920 to John J. Tesorero and Elizabeth ( Pontuso) Tesorero of West Roxbury, MA. John was the husband of the late Catherine E. Fant of Easley, SC. John graduated from the High School of Commerce in Boston and studied business and art. He enlisted in the army at the onset of WWII and earned the rank of Sergeant of the 7th infantry training regiment. After WW II, John began his career in retail advertising, retiring as Vice President of Sales Promotion for the Sage Allen Department Stores. John held sales promotion positions for the Outlet Company (Outlet Broadcasting) in Providence RI., the May-Cohen’s Department Store in Jacksonville FL., the Boston Store in Utica NY., Joske’s Department Store in San Antonio, TX. and Howland’s Department Store in Bridgeport, CT. He served for 19 years on the Board of Directors for the National Retail Merchants’ Association, and was elected as Secretary/ Treasurer. He taught advertising courses at the Mohawk Valley Junior College. John earned many awards for his creativity and innovations. He is survived by his former wife, Terrie Lexton Sisgoreo (Gene) of Uncasville, CT. John was the loving father and grandfather of two daughters, Mary Ellen (Robert) Rogers of Oakton, VA., and Jacquelyn Carr (Jerry) of Darnestown, MD., four grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter: Linda (Clark) Smith of MI., Dr. Lisa M. Carr of MD., Jennifer O’Reilly of MD., Kathryn Carr (Max) Tepper of CA. Two brothers Theodore ( pre-deceased ) (Katherine) Tesorero of MA, Francis (Karen) Tesorero of OH., and one sister, Catherine Ravens (Fred) of MA.

The visitation will held in the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre St. West Roxbury at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to St. James Church, Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT.
