Obituary

Methuen - John A. “Jack” Walsh, 85, died peacefully at The Merrimack Valley Hospice on Saturday, October 20, 2012 with family by his side, after a short battle with brain cancer.

Jack, son of the late Patrick and Abagail (Riordan) Walsh, was born in Lawrence on July 1, 1927, and had lived in Methuen for many years.

Jack was retired from the New England Telephone Company and the IRS in Andover and Methuen. An avid walker, he was a frequent visitor to The Loop in Methuen, where he enjoyed his daily early morning and brisk two mile walk around the complex until just weeks ago.

He leaves his two devoted sons, John and his wife Maryann, and Stephen and his wife Kitty, as well as his much loved grandchildren, Nick and Kitty. He was blessed to have many loving nieces and nephews involved in his life as well. Jack was pre-deceased by his wife, Ruth, and his son, Christopher.

Jack’s life will be celebrated and lovingly remembered in a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 205 Hampshire St., Lawrence on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. Friends and family will be warmly received in the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
