Obituary

LuSoto, Theresa A (Sackett) of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2012, surrounded by her loving family following a yearlong illness. She was born on May 2, 1967 in Syracuse, NY. Theresa attended South River High School (NJ) and was a graduate of West Seneca West High School (NY), class of 1985. She attended Gannon University in Erie, PA and graduated from the Saint Vincent School of Nursing in Erie, PA in 1995.
Theresa had a passion for helping the less fortunate and those who had fallen ill and were in need of care. As all nurses are, she was truly one of God’s angels on earth. She was CCRN certified and worked as a staff RN at the Metro Health Center in Erie PA, St Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick NJ, Parkland Medical Center in Derry NH, as a traveling nurse with a stint at Saints Medical Center in Lowell MA and, most recently, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington MA. She performed missionary work in Jamaica and Nepal and volunteered at local food pantries.
Theresa had a zest for life and laughter and enjoyed traveling, bingo, comedy, a good game of Scrabble, crossword puzzles, Texas Hold’em poker, reading, social media, golfing, camping, good movies and musicals, singing and spending time with her cats and her family. She was an accomplished cook, gardener, seamstress and needleworker.
Theresa was the beloved wife of 7 years to Martin LuSoto of Derry, devoted mother to Grace Tomczak and Andrew Tomczak of Derry, stepmother to Katrina LuSoto of East Brunswick, NJ and dear aunt to Joseph and Sam Novotny of Freehold, NJ.
She is survived by her sister Ann Novotny and her husband Ron of Freehold, NJ, a sister Ashley of Cheektowaga, NY, her mother Geri Ricca and husband Carl of Jackson, NJ, her father Andy Sackett and his wife Gail of Cheektowaga, NY and many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Olivia.
A visitation wss held on Thursday, October 25 at the Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Rd Londonderry, NH, from 6 to 7 pm with a memorial service followed at 7pm. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 27 at the American Hotel, 18 East Main St., Freehold NJ from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that a donation be made in Theresa’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
