Oakham - Barbara J. (Perry) Wentzell, 83, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 19, 2012. Born in Worcester, one of three children of Milton and Eva (Norris) Perry, Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gordon R. Wentzell. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Lynn Harrington of Canton,CT; son, Stephen Wentzell of Oakham; daughter, Susan Wentzell and her husband Bill Parker of Canton, CT. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Amy and Jill Harrington of Holden and Abigale Parker of Seal Harbor, ME. She also leaves one great grandchild, Devon Henderson of Holden. The family lived in Holden where Barbara drove a school bus for many before moving to Oakham 23 years ago. Barbara enjoyed the many beautiful birds and wildlife that frequented their yard. She had a life-long love of animals. Her horses and cats brought her much joy. Barbara was an active member of the DAR for many years and remained active in the Leicester Historical Society serving in many positions. She had a great passion for genealogy and spent countless hours researching her family heritage. She was very proud of her work and her acceptance into the Mayflower Society.
Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street from 4-7 pm Wednesday, October 24, 2012. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 25. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
