HAVERHILL: Robert W. Nordstrom, 76, died on October 9, 2012 in the Lakeview House Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
Born in Holden on October 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Walter Otto and Elsie (Oberg) Nordstrom. He resided in Somerville for many years and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Robert enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1958. He was a resident of Haverhill for the past twenty-six years and had previously resided in Billerica where he raised his young family.
Robert worked as a self-employed heating, ventilation and air conditioning technician for many years and also for several companies during his career. He loved to fish but will be most remembered for playing Santa Claus every year until his health would not allow him to.
The Nordstrom family would like to thank the Lakeview House Nursing Home for their excellent care, support and friendship during his stay there. Robert will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him for so long.
He is survived by his three loving sons, Walter “Butch” R. Nordstrom of Dracut, Donald E. Nordstrom of Taunton and Daniel A. Nordstrom of Bakersfield, CA; his devoted daughter, Katrina L. Nordstrom also of Dracut; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Catie, Amanda and Jessica Nordstrom; two great-granddaughters, Cylenna and Paradise; a sister-in-law, Dottie Nordstrom of Dracut and a brother-in-law, Joe Dube of Nashua, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Karl and Ronnie Nordstrom and his sister, Marilyn Dube.
A graveside service with Military Honors for Robert will be held on Monday in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford at 9 a.m. Family and friends are welcomed to attend.
