CHICOPEE – Rosa M. (Manno) Vurovecz, 87, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Serra San Bruno, Catanzaro, Italy on October 31, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Giovanni and Brunina (Scopacasa) Manno. She was raised in Italy and in 1957 immigrated to Canada where she lived until moving to Chicopee in 1964. She was employed for several years by the International Garment Workers Union and worked at several of the clothing manufacturers in the area. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Vendel Vurovecz, who was Called Home on August 8, 1989. She leaves: her devoted son, John Vurovecz, and his wife, Susan, of Blandford, MA; her two cherished grandchildren, Alexander and Olivia Vurovecz; her loving brothers, Umberto Manno and his wife, Angelina, of Chicopee and Luigi Manno of Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada; her three loving sisters, Anita Barillari and her husband, Salvatore, of Toronto, Canada and Mafalda Varini and Luisina Albano, both of Italy; her loving sister-in-law, Nanette Manno, of Italy; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by: her loving brothers, Salvatore, Bruno and Raffaele Manno; and her loving sister, Carmella Tassone. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, October 20, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
