Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Good Friend to Many

Betty was born in Saint Paul Minnesota on January 30 1927. She was a career woman and an active participant in many organizations. Betty worked for the District 622 School District at Webster Elementary from 1964 to 1974. Upon receiving a Bachelor's degree in Social Services from Metropolitan State University she worked for Ramsey County Social Services from 1974 to her retirement in 1987. Betty was a very active member of the North Saint Paul Historical Association serving in a number of roles including: President, Treasurer, and Curator. Betty was a member of Eastern Star and the 40 & 8 auxiliary . Over her life she was an active volunteer including: Sunday school teacher at Saint Marks Lutheran and Girl and Boy Scout leader. She loved to garden and participated in the North Saint Paul Green organization. She enjoyed square dancing and being a member of the North Saint Paul Colby Hill Community Club and life time Twins fan. She is survived by husband of sixty-five years, Harry A. Lyon Jr.; three children, Margaret Newmaster, Catherine (Donald) Suchomel and Paul (Susan) Lyon; Grandchildren, Kyle Newmaster, Shawn Lyon, Brooke Newmaster, Chase Suchomel, Chris Lyon, Melanie Suchomel, and Sarah Lyon. Betty is preceded in death by Father Paul Eugene Albrecht, Mother Frieda Albrecht, Sister Gertrude Hannah and son-in-law Raymond Newmaster. Funeral Service Friday (10/19) at 11:00 AM at ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2499 Helen St. (Door 7W), No. St. Paul. Interment Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation Thursday from 4-8:00 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., No. St. Paul and one hour prior to the service on Friday at church. Memorials preferred to St. Mark's Indian School Child Fund or North St. Paul Historical Society.
