Obituary

TAUNTON – Byrl V. Laucks, husband of Ilse (Hauschildt) Laucks of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Oct. 11, 2012.
He was 92.
Born in Lebanon, PA, he was the son of the late George W. and Hattie (Krumbine) Laucks.
A graduate of Penn State, Mr. Laucks moved to the Taunton area in 2001.
A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he attained the rank of Sergeant and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was later employed by the Foxboro Company as an industrial engineer for over fifteen years.
A talented musician, Mr. Laucks was known as a great trumpeter, playing in “big band” style ensembles, including the Lexington Bicentennial Band.
In his spare time, he enjoyed photography, researching genealogy, and computers.
He was an avid reader.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Katherine A. Picard and her husband Richard of Bedford; two stepdaughters, Stefanie Thomas of Orange Park, FL, and Heidi Iozza of Medford; two grandchildren, Steven Picard of Hudson, NH, and Nicole O’Toole of Littleton, MA; seven step grandchildren; six great grandsons; three nieces; and a nephew.
Private Graveside Services were held at Newton Cemetery on Monday, Oct. 15th.
Arrangements are by the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton.
