Doris L. (Poirier) Jaglowski, 88, a resident of Lawrence for most of her life, died peacefully Monday, October 15, 2012 in Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after a brief illness.
Doris, daughter of the late John and Anna (Goulet) Poirier, was born in Lawrence, June 9, 1924. Her beloved husband, Joseph J. Jaglowski, died in 2008. Prior to her retirement in 1987, Doris was employed with the Raytheon Corp. in Andover. She previously was employed with Sylvania of Waltham.
Doris and her husband greatly enjoyed Polka dancing and traveled with the “Sound Abouts” whenever they could. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting and crocheting beautiful afghans for her family and friends and was an avid BINGO player. Up until recently, Doris remained close to her friends from the eighth grade, getting together monthly.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Cheryl A. Jaglowski-Ho and her husband Christopher of Durham, North Carolina and Joann L. Misra and her husband Sunil of Windham, New Hampshire; one brother, Rene Poirier and his wife Nancy of Florida; one sister, Teresa Gendron of Salem, New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Kyle, Caitlin, Rebecca, Jennifer and Nina and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Lauren.
Doris’ life will be celebrated and lovingly remembered in a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 9 AM. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, immediately following the Mass. Friends and family will be warmly received in the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen from 4-8 PM Thursday.
