Charlotte R. (Keefe) Gately, 74, of Hopedale, died, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Franklin surrounded by her family.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on June 12, 1938, she was a daughter of the late George Archibald and Sarah (MacPherson) Keefe.
Mrs. Gately grew up in Sydney and moved to the United States at the age of 18 with her sister Norma. She resided in Framingham for many years until moving to Hopedale two years ago.
Mrs. Gately worked as a caregiver for many years to numerous people throughout the area.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Lynn Shea of Sarasota, FL, James Gately of Auburn, Colleen Grady of Franklin, Paula Gately of Hopedale, Joseph Gately of Norfolk, and Thomas Gately of Hopedale, fourteen grandchildren, Rebecca, Casey, Ryan, Sarah, Melissa, Amanda, Joey, Micheal, Carlie, Jessica, Jacob, Robert, Shamus and Emilee and four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, Jack MacPherson of Nova Scotia and five sisters, Ruth MacLean of Nova Scotia, Norma MacDonald of Tewksbury, Judith Warren of Montreal, Phyllis Morrison of Alberta, Canada and Colleen MacPherson of Toronto.
She was the mother of the late Robert Gately and sister of the late Margaret Keefe.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, October 14 from 11:30a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.
