Obituary

Samuel F. Anastasia of Plymouth died at home Oct.. 9 at the age of 89. Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Maryellen (Rabideau) of Plymouth and four children: Nan Anastasia of Plymouth; Chuck Anastasia and his wife, V.J, of Barrington, RI; Patti Anastasia and her husband, Tom Spine, of Londonderry, NH; and Marcia Allen and her husband, Peter, of Plymouth. He also leaves five cherished grandchildren: Mike Anastasia and his wife, Rebecca; Nick Anastasia; Emily Anastasia; Graham Allen; and Ian Allen; in addition to his sister, Mildred Winston of Harwich, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was the son of the late Charles and Nancy Anastasia.

Born in Boston, Sam graduated from Everett High School and Bentley School of Accounting. He spent his summers on Priscilla Beach in Plymouth from the age of about 10 and moved permanently to Plymouth in 1963. A Certified Public Accountant, Sam was the treasurer for the Jefferson Construction Company in Cambridge for 29 years. He was also a commercial lobsterman. He enjoyed boating, fishing, carpentry, gardening, cooking, music, and spending time with his family. Sam’s fish cakes, lemon ice, and homemade vanilla extract were legendary. As a young man, he and his father made ice cream flavorings and sauces, operating as Paramount Products in Everett.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at St. Bonaventure Church in Plymouth at noon. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Road (Rte. 3A), Plymouth (Manomet), from 9:30 to 11:30 AM prior to the Mass. Burial in Manomet Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations in his memory be made to the South Shore Community Action Council’s Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse, 265 South Meadow Road, Plymouth, MA 02360..
