Obituary

Howell, William S. of Cambridge, October 9, 2012. He is survived by his wife Delores Howell, two sons Rush and John Howell, daughter Sharon Howell and 6 grandchildren and a great grand son. He is also survived by three sisters, Juanita Howell-Upshaw, Barbara Howell and Karen Howell; two brothers, Ernest Howell and Gregory Howell all of Boston. William also had a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visiting hours in The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Wednesday October 17, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Burial with Military honors in The Massachusetts National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

William S. Howell was born in Winston-Salem, NC to the late William Bryant Howell and the late Minnie Bell Pearson-Howell on December 12, 1935. The family came North in the 1940s and settled in Cambridge, MA. William attended Ringe and Latin high school and Wentworth Institute where he studied civil engineering. William was discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps with highest honors. He worked for Cambridge Chemical, and at the time of his death owned Sure-Free Exterminating Company. William was an avid golfer, playing in many tournaments and collecting many trophies. He also taught classes at and belonged to the Franklin Park Golf Course Association for many years.

William passed on October 9, 2012 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton, MA after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Delores Howell of Hyde Park, two sons, Rush and John Howell both of Cambridge, daughter, Sharon Howell and 6 grandchildren.
