Obituary

Maurice H. Guilbault, age 91 of Peabody, died unexpectedly, Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Salem Hospital / NSMC. He was the husband of the late Charlotte G. (Fury) Guilbault.

Born in St. Hyacinth, PQ, Canada, and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Donat and Amanda (Laporte) Guilbault. A veteran of W.W. II, he served in the Pacific with the Army. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and worked for Berube Painting Contractors in Salem. In 1951 he began working in Security for Sylvania at the Loring Ave. facility and retired as foreman of maintenance in 1982.

Maurice was an accomplished musician who played guitar, piano, accordion and trumpet. He was an avid golfer, great dancer and champion bowler who bowled on several leagues. Maurice especially enjoyed theater and dining out with many friends, especially his breakfast club buddies.

He is survived by three sons, Rick L. Guilbault and his wife Josephine of Salem, Gary L Blais and his wife Debbie of Hollywood, FL, David L. Blais and his wife Alicia of Braintree, 2 daughters, Valerie Cole and her husband Robert of Beverly, Linda L. Morningstar of Ft. Myers, FL, a brother Roger Guilbault and his wife Clara of Georgetown, 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Tracy, Jeffery, Eric, Aaron, Kristan, Merideth, Leah, Michael, Peter and Caitlin, as well as many nieces and nephews and his significant others, Arthur & Charlotte. He was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Moffatt, and 4 sisters, Rita Guilbault, Doris Budesky, Terry Kelley and Lorraine Cassie.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, October 12, 2012, at 9:00 A.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem to be flowed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
