Obituary

Rita M. (Gaudreau) Levesque age 92 of Salem, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at her home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Philip A. Levesque.

Born and raised in Beverly she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Helene (Theriault) Gaudreau. As a young woman Rita was a professional singer and dancer and also worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad in Boston.

In her later years, she served on the board of directors for the former Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital, North Shore Catholic Charities, and the auxiliary board of Salem Hospital. She was also a former member of the Richelieu North of Boston Club and Zonta International. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish and currently Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to North Shore Elder Services, Best Home Care, and Hospice of the North Shore for their compassionate care during Rita’s last days.

She is survived by a son and daughter Paul P. and Suzanne M. Levesque both of Salem, Philip’s daughter Alice Audet of Marblehead, a nephew, Edmund Josephs and his wife Dorothy of Danvers, her niece and godchild, Lianne M. Authier of Gloucester, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Leo & Henry Gaudreau, and sisters, Lillian Josephs & Evelyn Authier, and Alice’s sister, Phyllis Laporte Ardullah.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem. Burial will be private. There will be no visiting hours.
