Alice Viola Anderson, long-time resident of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2012 at Overlook Nursing Home in Northampton, MA. Alice is survived by her children and their spouses John and Pam Anderson of Torrance, CA; Robert and Susanne Anderson of Haydenville, MA; and Elizabeth Anderson and Patrick Churchville of Aviano, Italy. She also leaves 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Zach Anderson, his wife Caty, and their children James and Anna, of Kensington, MD; Mark Anderson of Sydney, Australia; Astrid Anderson, R.N., Northampton, MA; and Eric Anderson of Torrance, CA.
Alice was born Alice Peterson in 1918 in Ludvika, Sweden to Zacheus Peterson and Anna Maria Mattson and immigrated to Worcester, MA at the age of four, along with her widowed father and five older brothers and sisters. She graduated from Worcester High School of Commerce in 1936, where she was senior class vice-president and a Horace Mann Scholar. In 1941, Alice married Evert Anderson, who she met at the Swedish Baptist Church in Worcester. Together they lived in Worcester and Springfield, MA; Schenectady, NY; Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles, CA; and Dayton, OH. After her husband Evert’s death in 1974, Alice relocated to Framingham. Alice will be remembered as a loyal member of the Community United Methodist Church, an avid and talented china painter, a baker of superb Swedish coffee bread, and a wonderful daughter, wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:A.M. on October 13 at the All Faiths Cemetery, formerly the Swedish Cemetery, 9 Island Rd., Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon St., Wayland, MA 01778 or the charity of your choice.
