Obituary

Anthony J. Picone died peacefully at the Winchester Hospital on Friday. He was 91.

Anthony was born and raised in Boston’s North End. He served in the Army as a combat medic throughout Europe during World War II. After the war, he worked as a leather cutter with Hyde Athletic Shoe Co., until his retirement. A Medford resident for over 36 years he lived in Wilmington for the past 20 years.

The beloved husband of the late Rose (Caruso), he was a devoted father to Anita Longo and her husband Edward of Wilmington, Dr. John Picone of Okemos, MI, Dr. David Picone and his wife Katie of Mason, MI, Richard Picone and his wife Kathi of Freemont, NH. He was a loving grandfather to Greg, Alicia and Shadow Longo, Alyssa, Jessica, Allison and Anthony Picone. Anthony is preceded in death by his siblings: Domenic Picone, Mary LoVuolo, Laura Brogna, Mario Picone, Stella Giovino, Frank Picone and Rita Mancinelli.

A funeral Service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, October 10th at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Family and friends are also kindly invited to visit with the family on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Anthony's name to the Saint Anthony Society of the North End, 201-203 Endicott St., Boston, MA 02113.
