Obituary

FALL RIVER…Michael Pankow, 86, of Fall River passed away, Saturday, at home surrounded by his family.
He was the widower of Catherine (Bird) Pankow.
He was born in Fall River a son of the late Michael and Annie (Bizrucrka) Pankow and had been a lifelong resident of this city. He was employed at various mills in the city working his way to supervisor cutter, retiring after 40 years. He also worked for Continuum Energy Technologies, Fall River.
Mr. Pankow served his country in WWII with the U.S. Army and later during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #314 Fall River where he served as past Sergeant at Arms, a member of Voiture Nationale 40 & 8 Post #577, Fall River War Veterans Council. He enjoyed fishing, music, the beach, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a daughter Debra Gill and her companion Richard of Fall River, a son Michael G. Pankow and his wife Carole of New Bedford, a brother William Pankow of West Virginia, 5 grandchildren: Michael S. Pankow, Christine Ferreira, Melissa Rodrigues, Lisa Griffin, and Jason Gill, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Philip Pankow.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday at 9 A.M. from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church, Center Street, Fall River. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be Monday 6 – 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
