Santo P. “Sammy” Arria, a long-time resident of Clinton, died peacefully at home in the company of his loving family. He was 87.
Born and raised in Boston’s West End, Sammy was the son of the late Concetto and Isabel (Fama) Arria. After his service in the army during World War II, Sammy was appointed to the Watertown Police Department, where he served until his retirement. He was devoted to his family and friends, especially the love of his life, Betty, with whom he shared 42 wonderful years.
The beloved longtime companion of Elizabeth “Betty” Bourque of Clinton, Sammy was the devoted father of Robert Arria of California, Santo P. Arria, Jr. of Georgia and the late Richard Arria. He was a loving grandfather to Anthony, Christopher and Alexis. He was a dear brother to Marie Arria of Melrose, Thomas Arria of Malden, Theresa Arria of Medford, Anthony Arria of Melrose, the late Salvatore Arria and Pauline Bottari.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday October 8th from 4 thru 8 PM and again on Tuesday morning at 10 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
