Michael J. Owens, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died October 4, 2012, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, October 8, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM on Sunday evening.
Mr. Owens was born November 9, 1948 in Fitzgerald to the late Plemon Donzell Owens and Sarah Elizabeth Griffin Owens. He was a 1967 graduate of Winter Haven High School in Winter Haven, Fl and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Owens was an Industrial Electrician and was former owner and operator of Owens Electric in Alapaha. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, former Sergeant of Arms of the Moose Lodge and was Captain of the Pool League. He had lived in the communities of Warner Robins, Alapaha, Winter Haven, FL, and Tallahassee.
He is survived by his sisters: Brenda Crutchfield of Winter Haven, Florida, Lynn Bishop of Warner Robins, Patricia (Lamuel) Taylor of Sparks, Georgia; brother: Donnie Owens of Fitzgerald, several nieces and nephews and a godson, Michael Aaron Bishop. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby Owens and Gene Owens.
