Herbert P. Irving Jr., 65, formerly of Attleboro, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. He was the husband of Linda (Merryman) Irving who died in 2007.
Born in Attleboro on January 16, 1947, he was a son of the late Herbert P. and Lillian (Gallant) Irving.
Herb was a long time resident of Attleboro and proudly served for 4 ½ years in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Before his retirement, he worked at the Bay State Correctional Center in Norfolk for many years, retiring as head of maintenance.
Herb enjoyed the outdoors, especially bicycling and skiing.
He is survived by his daughter Nicole P. Irving of Rockland, his son Jason J. Irving, formerly of Attleboro, his sister Janet Waldron and her husband Mark of Maynard and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Leonard J. Irving Sr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin on Thursday, October 11 from 5 – 8 p.m.
Burial will take place privately at a later date.
