Dorothy J. (Linsdau) Fossa, 78, of Danvers passed peacefully on Wednesday September 26, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy illness.
Born in Gloucester on October 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Charlotte (Nickerson) Linsdau. Dot began her education there and later continued in Beverly. She settled in Danvers in 1963 with her husband, the late James H. Fossa. Years after her husband passed, she met a wonderful man, John Fenton, who she shared the rest of her life with. Dot was a hard worker, very independent. She worked hard for twenty eight years at Sylvania in Danvers before her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed gardening and having the pool to share with her children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Country music and dancing were Dot's past time, and with John and friends she frequented the Shanty in Beverly for years. She loved unconditionally and will be missed more than words can express.
She was the mother of the late Linda Fossa. She is survived by her partner John J. Fenton of Lynn; a son Stephen J. Fossa and his partner Nancy Arsenault of Peabody; a daughter Dianne M. and son-in-law Patrick O. Finn of Danvers; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and a nephew Mark Merchant. She was predeceased by her siblings, Donald and Richard Linsdau and Barbara Merchant.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a graveside service at 11AM on Friday, October 12, in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., off Route 1 South, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
