Judith E. Hoover
August 8, 1915- October 3, 2012


Judith E. Hoover, 97, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Born Judith Ellen Rarick in Colfax, Indiana in 1915, she grew up one of nine children in Royerton. Her parents were Rev. W. Carl and Mary Esta (Hook)Rarick. After graduating from Ball State University, in 1937 she married Wilbur C. Hoover of Anderson, whose father was also a minister. They remained devoted to each other until Mr. Hoover's death in 1997.

"Judy" Hoover was active in the Anderson Church of the Brethren her entire life, where she played the piano and organ. She also served as a substitute teacher for the Anderson schools, primarily at Madison Heights Junior and Senior High Schools in the 1960's and 1970's. She was a loving mother and enthusiastic and good -humored friend to all.

She is survived by a brother, Norman Rarick of Loveland, CO, a sister, Virginia Johnson of Winter Haven, FL, 2 sons, Wendell C. (wife Nancy) Hoover of Carmel, and Gary E. Hoover of Austin, TX, a daughter, Alice J. (husband Doug) Stanley of Fredericksburg, VA, along with countless nieces and nephews, and others more distant.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 8th, at 11:00 AM at Miller Cemetery in Middletown, where she will be buried next to her beloved husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to Anderson Church of the Brethren, 741 N. Scatterfield Road, Anderson, IN 46012.
