Patricia (Altimari) Joiner, the daughter of Rita and John Altimari was born May 3, 1943 in Westerly RI. She died June 2nd after battling a short illness.
Pat married Frederick Joiner in 1964, and they lived together in Ledyard for 40 years where they raised their family.
Pat was a faithful servant of God who attended church regularly at Our Lady of Lourdes in Gales Ferry and St. Thomas More Church in N. Stonington. She was a kind, caring, and generous woman who, while raising her own children cared for many foster children. She was actively involved in Girl Scouts for decades, touching the lives of many. She played many roles in her life- she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She showed her love of others often, even recently purchasing a gift for the hospital Emergency Room the day before she was admitted. Her family and friends often found gifts ahead of time for upcoming birthdays. She touched many lives and her goodness and spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her family and friends were special to her as he was as special to them.
Pat worked for the Ledyard public school system as a nurses aide. She truly loved her work, and always went above and beyond to help children. She retired in March after nearly 30 years of service.
Though most of her time was spent helping others, Pat found time to earn her Associates Degree through Three Rivers Community College. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, and taking trips with husband in their motor home.
Amongst others, Pat leaves behind her husband, Frederick Joiner; 3 children, Michele Marin, Brian Joiner, and Kerri Beauchat (and their families), 8 grandchildren (Nathan, Troy, Jason, Megan, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Morgan & Aaron); her sister, Jane Norell, her aunt, Carmela Pellegrino, and her mother, Rita Altimari. All of us will miss her terribly, and we are grateful for having known and loved her.
Pat’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Monday from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Liberty St., Pawcatuck on Tuesday at 10am. Fr. Dennis Perkins, Pastor will celebrated her Mass.
Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
