Obituary

Daniel P. Nichols, 76, of Worcester, died Monday, October 1st in UMass Memorial Medical Center. He leaves a brother, Thomas P. Nichols and his wife Susan, of Charlton; two nephews, Michael and John; two nieces, Sandra and Bonni; and nine grand nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Walter V. and Helen A. (Savage) Nichols and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was a machinist for Pobco Bearing Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of Sacred Heart- St. Catherine of Sweden Parish, the Knights of Lithuania, Council 26, and the YMCA, also serving as a counselor at its Camp Blanchard. Mr. Nichols was extremely proud of his Lithuanian heritage and was active in many Lithuanian events. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and war historian. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his nephews and nieces. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean Era.

Daniel’s family would like to thank the staff of Sandalwood Nursing Center in Oxford for the excellent care they provided for him.

The funeral is Friday, October 5th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart- St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 8:30 until 9:30 A.M. Friday in the funeral home.
