Shirley F. Young
Member of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY: Shirley F. (Bailey) Young, age 82, a descendent of one of West Andover's early settlers, and a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Wingate of Lowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lowell on April 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Chandler Bailey and the late Ruth (Baxter) Bailey.
Shirley was raised on the former Bailey Farm on Bailey Road in West Andover.
She attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School.
Shirley was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Bookkeeper for the Brox Dairy in Dracut, the Yankee Milk Company in Andover and the Agri-Mark Corporation of Methuen.
She is survived by one son, John A. Young and his wife Joyce of Andover; two daughters, Susan J. Ebner and her husband Brian of Hampstead, NH and Barbara E. Bunn of Chelmsford; one brother, Chandler Bailey of Vancouver, Canada; two sisters, R. Marilyn Gordon and her husband Edgar of Tyngsboro and Phyllis Toomey and her husband John of Sudbury; also six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Interment will follow at the Lowell Cemetery. At the request of the family there are NO Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
