Obituary

Joseph A. Albano Sr., passed away suddenly at the Norwood Hospital on September 27, he was 90. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Carmella (Leo) and Guiseppe Albano.

He was raised and educated in the North End of Boston, later moving with his late wife Nicolina to Medford some fifty two years ago. He founded Joseph’s Transportation of Medford and was active in the Medford community, holding the rank of Captain with the special police. After his retirement from Wolfers Lighting he enjoyed some traveling and frequent trips to Mohegan Sun.

Joe is survived by his daughter Christine DiGiovanni and her husband Frank of Tewksbury, his son Joseph Albano III and his wife Colleen of Medford. Six loving grandchildren Christine DiGiovanni, Frank DiGiovanni and his wife Kristen, Jaime, Joseph IV, Justin and Jessica Albano, he was the loving great grandfather of Isabella DiGiovanni. Companion to Helen McCarthy of West Roxbury.

He was predeceased by four brothers, the late Nick, Americo, Frank, and Jerry Albano. Six sisters, Mary and Theresa Albano, Edith Toscano, Josephine DiBari, Anna Bruno, and Carrie Tomasino.

His Funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Tuesday, October 2nd, at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting Hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy be sent in his memory the Susan G. Komen for the cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309
