Obituary

Sean P. Harrington, 57, of New Bedford died unexpectedly at home on September 28, 2012. The son of the late John and Phyllis Harrington, he was born and lived in New Bedford most of his life. He served as a cook in the U. S. Army. His passion for cooking and caring for those in need led him to devote his time and talent as Master Chef for countless charitable events.

Mr. Harrington worked as a chef in many New Bedford restaurants and at the Dipper Cafe before retiring from Hathaway School in New Bedford where he worked as a custodian and was affectionately known as “Mr. Sean.” He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and an ardent fan of the Celtics, the Patriots, the Red Sox and all things Irish.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers: Maura Harrington; Ann Ibara and her husband, Dick; Margaret Harrington and her husband Gene Jones; Joan Sopel and her husband Dale; Seamus Harrington and his wife, Nancy; Dan Harrington and his wife Debbie; and Eileen Harrington; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford Wednesday, October 3rd at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, October 2nd from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sister Rose House, 72 Eighth Street, New Bedford, MA 02740.
