Monna Lea (Scott) Jackson, age 79, of Anderson, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, of a brief illness.
She was born March 12, 1931, in Anderson, to Howard B. and Leottis (Sweeny) Scott.
She was a musician, organist and pianist. She was a pianist for Ann Harmeson School of Dance 45 years, organist for Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service 15 years and pianist for First Church of Christ Scientist. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Monna graduated from Anderson High School in 1949 and attended Arthur Jordan Music School at Butler University and also Ball State University.
Monna is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Jackson of Anderson, whom she married Dec. 19, 1953, in Anderson; her two sons, Joseph B. (Joni) Jackson and Robert A. (Jan) Jackson, all of Pendleton; and her daughter, Julie Ann (Mark) Porter of Anderson; her sister, Wilma (Ivan) Baker of Kokomo; her brother, James E. (Mary Ann) Scott of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Garrett (Karen), Ashley, Jordan, Simon, Brittany, Lacey, Jillyan, Carly and Casey; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Kay Wehner and Ann Harmeson Hardacre.
Monna was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Howard W. Scott; and Howard’s wife, Pinky Scott.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, with the Rev. William Mathys officiating. Monna will be entombed in the mausoleum at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
