Nunziata Vaccarella(nee DiMartino) age 66 of Paramus, born in Sicily in 1945 passed peacefully Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Beloved wife of Vincenzo for over 43 years. Devoted mother of Romeo and wife Jill, Rosario and wife Kim and Roberto. Dear sister of Serafina, Diego, Rosa, Guiseppa, Gaetano, Luigi, Salvatore, Carmela, Giovanni and Biagio. Loving grandmother of Vincenzo, Romeo, Jr., Anthony and Christian. Cherished godmother of Angela Moskowitz, God rest her soul. She was a member of the Santa Croce Society and the Italian American Club.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister aunt and friend to all, Nancy is a woman to be remembered and revered. She was the epitome of a Sicilian-American woman who infused her culture and traditions with others. Cooking for her family was her sheer joy and her passion. Her family will always remember many home made meals she prepared shared around the table on Sundays, birthdays and holidays. A favorite was the jarred tomato sauce which she and her husband would undertake every year in their backyard. It was a sight to see her wear her straw sunhat and her blue and white apron, doused in tomato, preparing from scratch home made sauce. Her family would always tell her she should sell it. Instead, she enjoyed the simple pleasure of offering it to family and friends. Intimate, generous, timeless. That’s Nancy.
Time and time again, family, friends and visitors would find themselves glued to the many photos she had on display in her home, adorning the entryway, living room, stairway, kitchen, and bedrooms with her true loves. Her family was everywhere for her to enjoy~always at an eye’s glance. These framed memorabilia, priceless memories captured in time, were her valuables~her treasures.
Nancy’s family was her pride. Where she could help, she did. Always. She lived and breathed her husband, children and grandchildren. Their lives were hers. Her friends were equally her family, and will sure to miss the times spent playing cards, talking on the telephone, and sitting together at one another’s family functions laughing about past memories and sharing about new celebrations.
Her personality was great~and all who knew her adored her, especially her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Never a visit went by without laughter and love. The love in her heart was as great as the time she always took for others. Her time was yours. And you knew it. And you felt it. It was her way. Forever a giver. That’s Nancy.
Nancy, we thank you for the many blessings you brought, and the miracles you alone orchestrated. Be with God. We love you eternally.
