Obituary

East Bridgewater – William F. “Bill” Littlefield 79, died Wednesday September 26 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Eileen Patricia (Littlefield) Littlefield.

Born in Conway, NH he was the son of the late Albert and Frances (Hartley) Littlefield.

Bill had been raised in Albany, NH where he received his elementary education in a “one room school house”, later moving to Braintree, MA where he attended Braintree High School. He completed his education as a graduate of Monson Academy in Monson, MA.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served from 1951-1954 as a combat medic, and receiving his “Combat Medic Badge” for his service during the Korean War.

For many years he had worked as a cost estimator for the Raytheon and GTE Companies and had retired in an administrative position for the Small Business Administration.

He was a former member of the Hanson Congregational Church where he had served as the superintendent of “Sunday School” for over twenty years.

He was a longtime and active member of the Abington VFW Post 5737, and the American Legion Post 226 of Hanson.

Bill had been a current member of the Central Congregational Church of Middleboro.

He truly loved nature and the outdoors, and had spent many enjoyable hours bicycling, canoeing, fishing and camping with his large family and friends, and enjoyed walking the beach.

In addition to his wife Patricia he is survived by his loving children Linda Landry of Bourne, Joan Littlefield of Marshfield, James Littlefield of Taunton, Karen Bednarchik of FL Sheila Heisler of FL, Kelly Bruning of MI, Debra Finnerty of Stoughton and Brenda Cali of FL, his brother Robert Bell of NH and his sister Doris Rondeau of FL. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Steven Littlefield.

His services will be held Tuesday October 2 at 10 AM in the Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleboro, MA 02346. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Monday October 1 from 4-8 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
