Mr. Francesco Quinci, age 88, of Melrose formerly of Medford passed away peacefully at his home on September 27th with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Margherita (Giacalone) and together they shared more than 58 years of marriage. Born in Sicily he was one of seven children of the late Gianni and Caterina (Adamo) Quinci.
Francesco was raised and educated in Sicily. For many years he owned and operated several commercial fishing boats in Mazara Del Vallo, Sicily before immigrating to the United States in 1970. Together with his wife and family they settled in Medford where they lived for many years before moving to Melrose eleven years ago. Francesco work as a talented machinist with Instrumentation Laboratories of Lexington for twenty plus years prior to his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed listening to classical music and Italian opera music. He also enjoyed reading and had great love for poetry. His greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed and cherished spending quality family time and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his children, John Quinci of Woburn, Catherine DiChiara of Revere, Maria Tamburello of Everett and Nick Quinci of Melrose. He is also survived by his thirteen loving grandchildren. Along with his late parents, Francesco is predeceased by his son, Salvatore Quinci, and four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Saturday, September 29th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Herbert St., Melrose, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held on Friday from 3 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
