Obituary

DAVID KEITH “DAVE” EMBRY, 56, passed away on September 21, 2012 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.

He was president and owner of Rite-Way Industries, a member of Graceland Baptist Church, past president and present Board member of Kentucky Machine Association, a Ky. Colonel, and a graduate of Butler High School. He was also active in R/C model building and racing and also a collector of numerous collector cars. He also loved to travel and was active in his church. He was a major supporter and champion in all forms of Motorsports, from NASCAR, NHRA, World of Outlaws, USAC, to the local level. He supported all the area short tracks, Salem Speedway, Sportsdrome Speedway, Tri-State Speedway, and the now closed Louisville Speedway and Charlestown Speedway. He was a champion car-owner/ sponsor on the National level highlighted by the 1990 NASCAR All-American Challenge Series Championship and the 1998 ARCA Racing Series Championship. He was a multi-time Track Champion as an Owner/Sponsor on the local level with numerous drivers and teams, while also sponsoring a list of other teams that is too long to mention. Dave was also the catalyst for many of these drivers and crew members to go on to professional motorsport careers.

He is survived by his beloved wife Deborah (Pendley) Embry; two daughters, Courtney and Whitney Embry. Also survived by sisters and a brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Graceland Baptist Church, 3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany, Ind. with burial in Kraft Graceland Cemetery, New Albany, Ind.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
