Obituary

Hudson, MA
Alice (Kennedy) Lafleur of Hudson and Acton, MA passed away on Sept.
23, 2012, at the age of 91, and in the company of her loving family. Alice
was born in Bristol, CT on May 12, 1921, the daughter of Alice (McKernan)
and Raymond Kennedy. She attended schools in Agawam, MA and graduated
from Agawam H.S.

Alice married the love of her life, Vincent A. Lafleur in 1943. During
the war-time years and her husband's military deployment, Alice worked for
the Springfield Bank & Trust. After the war her family moved to Levittown,
NY and thereafter to Farmingdale, ME before finally relocating to Hudson, MA
in 1964. While her family and home remained Alice's first and greatest
priorities, she also served on the Marlborough Hospital Auxiliary board of
directors and joined the Catholic Daughters local affiliate of Christ the King Church in Hudson. A source of great satisfaction for her was her work with this group's scholarship committee, and the recognition that the
scholarships awarded would ease the financial burdens of aspiring young
scholars. Alice also loved and excelled at crafting including her rug braiding, stained glass, professional level cake decorating (including her oldest son’s wedding cake), love for flower gardening and cooking.

Alice endured many physical hardships and challenges later in her life, but always retained a sense of optimism and the courage to keep on fighting. That courage and strength, as well as her sense of humor will forever be remembered and cherished by her family and friends.

Alice is survived by her four children: Allan and his wife, Martha of
Keene, NH; Katherine Dittami and her husband, Alexander, of Hampton Falls,
NH.; Janet Bentley and her husband, Jeffrey, of Westford, MA; and John and
his wife, Stephanie, of Medway, MA. She is also survived by her 9
grandchildren and by 7 great-grandchildren. Alice is additionally survived by
her sister-in-law, Sr. Virginia Lafleur of Dorval Quebec. Her husband,
Vincent, died in 1981.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Sept.26 th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Marlboro.
