Frederick B. Alogna age 72 of North Truro, died peacefully and with dignity on Friday September 21, 2012 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA. Born in W. Haven, CT on February 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Leonard and Yvonne (Butler) Alogna. Fred was a graduate of W. Haven High School class of 1957 and a graduate of the State Sponsored Apprenticeship Program for Sheet Metal. In 1959 he completed army basic training and served in the Army Reserve until 1965. For 42 years he was a proud member of Local 40, the Sheet Metal Workers Union. In 2001 he retired to North Truro.
He will be remembered as a big man with a big heart. He was the “go to” guy in Truro for contractors, for his knowledge of home care products and his ability to fix or care for any building or solve construction problems. He loved sharing a joke, a laugh or his vast knowledge of construction. Fred found joy and relaxation spending leisure time in his garage working with iron and copper.
He is survived by his loving partner of 26 years Mary Anne Costello of No. Truro. They met through a mutual friend who had been caring for Fred as he recovered from lymphoma. He is also survived by his brother Leonard Alogna of Los Angeles, CA and many close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Gately Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown, on Friday September 28, from 4-6pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown.
