Obituary

BEVERLY: Virginia C. “Ginny” Foley White, 98, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 in the Essex Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late beloved Beverly Police Officer, Maurice Foley and the late Roy White.
Born in Trikorfo, Messinia, Greece on March 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Apostolos and Angeline (Gemonas) Goumas. Ginny came to this country at the age of two and had resided in Beverly, Reading and Sebring, Florida for many years before returning to Beverly twenty years ago. She was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1932.
Ginny was employed at Varian in Beverly for many years. She had also once worked as a waitress for many years at Stromberg’s in Salem and the Colonial in Lynnfield. A longtime communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, she was a member of its Guild and the Daughters of Isabella. An avid knitter, she loved to make Irish sweaters for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Ellen (Pomeroy) Foley; a daughter, Maureen (Foley) Kingsley; six grandchildren, Laurene Clark, Michael Foley, Patrick Foley, John Kingsley, Craig Kingsley and David Kingsley; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, John Foley, a brother, Christopher Goumas and a sister, René Carriero.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Please omit flowers, Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
