Helen F. (Smith) Landis, 86, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends, on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 14,1926, she was a dear daughter of the late Harold J. and Adelaide C. (Conrad) Smith.
Helen grew up and was educated in Riverside, Illinois. She furthered her studies and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She continued her education by attending the University of Michigan.
A resident of Norton for the past 58 years, Mrs. Landis had been employed for over 25 years as a Marketing Services Manager at Handy & Harman Electronic Materials in North Attleboro, prior to retiring.
Helen was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in North Attleboro. Her main concerns in life were focused on her children, grandchildren, her dogs and her beautiful vegetable garden.
An avid traveler, Mrs. Landis had traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, which included trips to Guatemala, Egypt, China, Cambodia, England and Wales.
She is survived by her devoted children, Carolyn Kelly of Norton, Harry Landis of Norton, Hugh Landis and his wife Terry of Jaffrey, NH, Howard Landis and his wife Lois of Essex Junction, VT, Gordon Landis of Stow and the late Diane Landis. The sister of the late Hazael Hamer, she is also survived by her cherished 6 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and former husband Harry M. Pastra-Landis of Norton.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Sunday, September 23rd from 3-5 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
A celebration of her life will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
