Edward Johnson

TEWKSBURY: Edward Johnson, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for 50 years, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (McComiskey) Johnson, with who he would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on October 7th.
Born in Waltham on November 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Frank Johnson and the late Melissa Rice (Kendall) Johnson.
Edward was raised in Lexington, attended Lexington schools and graduated from Lexington High School.
In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
He was employed for 20 years by Teamster's Local # 25 of Boston and had worked for Martiginetti Companies, formerly known as Gilman & Sons, until his retirement.
Mr. Johnson was a communicant of St. Williams Parish in Tewksbury. In addition, he was a Life Member of the Fr. Francis Coppens Council # 4336 Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed discussing politics and following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children, Edward P. Johnson and his wife Karen of Tewksbury, Richard Johnson of Chelmsford, Cheryl Short and her husband Jay of Byfield, Gary Johnson and his wife Theresa, Susan Gilbert and her husband Lawrence, and Eric M. Johnson all of Tewksbury; one sister, Ethel "Ann" Catino of Billerica; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was the father of the late Thomas K. Johnson and brother of the late Frank, Charles and Stewart Johnson.
Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 21, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Williams Church 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment in Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
