Obituary

Hendrik “Hank” Kate, 96, of Hooksett, died September 15, 2012 at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton after a period of declining health.

He was born in Amsterdam, Holland July 29, 1916 the son of Hendrik and Frederika Louisa (Boermeester) Kate, Sr. He graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1934 and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters.

Mr. Kate was a former route salesman for NH Dairy in Manchester.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the Hooksett Men’s Club. He was also a former Lieutenant with the Hooksett Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid sports fan.

He was married 65 years to Irene (Morin) Kate who died January 20, 2012.

He leaves a daughter Linda Rickenbach and her husband Thomas of Hampton; a son Donald Kate and his wife Roxanne of Hooksett; six grandchildren Brett Rickenbach and his wife Allison, Ryan Rickenbach and his wife Kelly, Randy Rickenbach, Sarah (Kate) Mackey and her husband James, Bryan Kate and his wife Katharine Parodi, and Meghan (Kate) McMonagle and her husband Bryan, and three great grandsons, Brady Rickenbach, William Mackey and Henry Kate.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Johanna Kate, Yanna Holden and Helena Baker.


The funeral was private. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
