Obituary

Foley, Robert Ewing, Sr. of Rockland, formerly of Dorchester and Hull passed away September 15, 2012.

Beloved husband for 66 wonderful years to Margaret “Peg” Austin Foley, son of the late Dr. John Arthur Foley and Elizabeth Ewing Foley and his late stepmother Eleanor P. Foley all of Dorchester and Hull. Father of Robert E. Foley, Jr. and his wife Andrea Santosusso Foley of Hull and Scituate, Christopher D. Foley and his wife Linda Such Foley of Enfield, CT, Margaret "Meg" VanCisin and the late Kevin T. VanCisin of West Roxbury, and David A. Foley and his partner Michael Loshaw of Quincy and Hull. Brother of Paul F. Foley of TN and the late John A., Richard V., James E., and Richard L. Foley. He is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Retired from the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the New Boston Federal Credit Union where he served for many years as treasurer. Graduate of Boston College High School 1940 and Boston College Class of 1944. Past president and treasurer of the Catholic Alumni Sodality of Boston. Devoted to his church, Bob was active over his lifetime at St. Margaret Parish in Dorchester and for the past 16 years at St. Helen Parish in Norwell as well as the former Immaculate Conception Church S.J. in the South End of Boston. A devoted “spark”, Bob loved to visit with the men serving with the Boston Fire Department Engine House 21 in Dorchester and the Town of Rockland Fire Headquarters on Union Street. His 91 years of life are an inspiration of love, honor, and devotion to his family, friends, church and his dear wife Peg.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Helen Church, Norwell at 11 AM.

Burial in Hull Village Cemetery.
