Lionel J. Richards 102, of 429 East School St. died Saturday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Rena (Gros Louis) Richards. Mr. and Mrs. Richards celebrated their 70TH Wedding Anniversary November 22, 2011. Born in Woonsocket September 12, 1910, he was a son of the late Arthur and Matilda (Corbeille) Richards. Mr. Richards worked for the former Woonsocket Comb for forty nine years before retiring. He also gave piano lessons and was a piano technician for over twenty five years. Mr. Richards was a member of the Beethoven Club and the Music Union # 262.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Gerald A. Richards and David V. Richards both of Woonsocket, and two granddaughters, Colette and Christine. He was also the brother of the late Emile and George Richards, Jeannette Gros Louis, and Cecile Bechet.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Theresa’s Church Rathbun St. Blackstone. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting Hours are Monday 4-6 PM.
