Clara Ruth Gafford, age 84 of Clarksville, TN, died on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. She was born November 19, 1927 in Montgomery County, TN to the late Allen Denton and Ruby Denton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Gafford; two brothers, Richard Denton and Stanley Denton; and sister, Rosa Lee Denton.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 2 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Rev. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 4-7 p.m., and Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Clara was a retired factory worker for Acme Boot Company. She was on a Traveling Bowling League for years. She was also a member of Rose Valley Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Bettye Jo Moore of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Allen Denton, Jr. of North Carolina and Phillip Wayne Denton of Ashland City, TN; step-daughter, Deniece Fann of Indian Mound, TN; two step-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Killebrew Jobey Moore, Nicky Perry, Otho Welker, Craig Gallivan, and Mitch Tucker.
